Andrew Sheppard
Filmmaker & Director of Photography

Andrew Sheppard is a Canadian documentary filmmaker and Director of Photography with nearly two decades of experience documenting how people operate within complex environmental systems. His work has appeared on National Geographic, BBC, Discovery, and other international platforms, often in remote and high-pressure conditions.

Raised in Northern Ontario, Andrew grew up around the realities of resource-based economies and the landscapes that sustain them. His early work in science communication at Science North shaped his ability to translate ecological and technical subjects for broad audiences. He later held technical leadership roles on productions such as Survivorman and Life Below Zero, working extensively in off-grid environments.

Andrew is formally trained in Ontario wildfire response protocols and has worked alongside Coulson Aviation, one of Canada’s leading aerial wildfire suppression companies, gaining firsthand exposure to large-scale fire response logistics and forest risk management. He has also filmed aboard an Arctic icebreaker during climate research missions, documenting scientific work in fragile northern ecosystems.

At TruNorth Naturals, Andrew leads documentary development and media strategy, focusing on clearly documenting sustainable wild harvesting practices and the broader economic opportunity they represent. His work centers on transparency and the practical case that forests can generate lasting value without being depleted.
